Recently, Todd has been having spinal tap procedures to remove spinal fluid in an effort to reduce pressure in his head. In an effort to make that process easier, Todd had surgery on Friday 10/12 to install a "shunt" that can be used to remove the spinal fluid without doing a regular spinal tap, which is a very uncomfortable procedure.
As of today, Todd is back home. I spoke to Todd today and he is a bit sore from the surgery, but his voice sounds strong and his attitude is optimistic. I was at the nursing home helping to take care of mom when I spoke to Todd by phone and so I handed the phone to mom and they were able to have a nice phone visit with each other.
Mom had to be hospitalized about 2 weeks ago. They were able to stabilize mom, but her condition was very weak from the ordeal. So upon release from the hospital, mom was moved to the nursing home for a period of rehab to try and help her regain her strength so she can return home. Mom is making slow but steady progress.
